Missing the bush ....

Having been born in South Africa one of the things I miss the most is being able to go camping in the bush and getting up early in the morning to go game viewing. Often I go through my rubber stamps and choose some of my animal ones and just sit down and make wild life cards. Here are 2 I have made recently. The first is a gate fold card using animal print paper and a giraffe stamp.
The second one is an elephant stamped onto dark card stock and coloured with bleach and then layered onto a map of Africa and some white mulberry paper. The word stamp says "hello"

From England with love and now home to craft......

I have just spent 17 lovely days in the UK seeing my 2 daughters who are at University over there and of course taking time to visit other relatives and friends. The weather was bad but that didn't bother me coming from New England lol.
We spent a week in the Chichester area spending time with my youngest daughter and visiting friends in the Bognor Regis and Portsmouth area. My eldest daughter then left us to go up to Scotland to visit her St Andrews University friends.
It was pretty strange being in the same country with 3 of my children and not having any of them with us for the next 5 days. We stayed with friends we knew in South Africa and of course ate and drank far to much.
I did manage to get to a large craft store where I managed to buy products which are not easily  available here in the USA. Needless to say I was in my element.
One of the places on our list of things to do was a visit to the Tank Museum in Bovington. I had no idea there were so many different types of tank around. My hubby's father was in the tanks in the war which was the reason for the visit.

These are pictures of the Matilda tank he was in.
Our next stop was London to get our selves geared up for my middle daughter's 21st birthday celebrations. This is the card I made for her.The theme was Super Heroes and Super Villains.

We met up with our eldest daughter who had a fabulous time in Scotland and was now ready to bond with her sisters. We had a lovely family dinner with aunts, uncles and cousins at her local pub. Her party celebration with her friends was on the Friday at a club called Walkabout. Dad and I only stayed for an hour and left the youngsters to their celebrations. Our last weekend in the UK we saw the rest of the family to congratulate our niece and her fiance on their engagement.
Sunday we said goodbye to the 2 girls and left early Monday for home.
I have a few thank you cards to make to send to all our hosts and once those are made will post them on my blog.

Colouring and Embossing on Watercolour Paper

I have lots of pads of watercolour paper so when I found a tutorial for embossing and painting on this paper I jumped at the challenge.
Using my new Poppy embossing folder I ran it through my Cuttlebug to get a nice deep emboss. I then ran my brayer over a Versamark ink pad and then lightly brayered over the embossed paper. This transferred the ink to the raised areas of the paper, I then poured some fine detail white embossing powder all over the card. Removed the excess and usung a dry brush carefully cleaned areas where ther was still some powder. I then heated the paper till the powder had melted.
I then sprayed the paper with water and began painting with my Perfect Pearls paints. some areas are diluted paint and others have paint straight from the bottle. I decided to limit this trial to one colour.
To finish it off I embossed the strip folder that come With the Poppy. Using the rest of the paper I cut 3 shapes 2 from Marianne Creatables and one from Spellbinders, layered them together after I outlined with a gel pen and used an Alphabet rub on.This is the finished card. I did have to use strong double sided tape to stick the watercolour paper down.
bye for now

Art Deco Lady

This was a free stamp with my DoCrafts magazine. I have used the Spectrum Noir markers BT1 BT2 BT4 and BT5 to colour her dress, FS2 FS3 and TN2 for her face and arms.
I am still pretty new at using these markers but with practice I WILL get better.
I am entering this card into the Spectrum Noir Bling Challenge
Be back again next time
